AstraZeneca Science Teaching Trust

The AstraZeneca Science Teaching Trust is an independent charity with a total trust fund of £20 million provided by the company, which supports a programme of projects designed to help build the knowledge, skills and understanding required to lead and teach science effectively and confidently in primary schools.

Little Book of Experiments

This booklet was developed by Planet Science and the AZSTT. It contains over 30 innovative science experiments for pupils at key stage 2/3. The pack is supported by online resources and each experiment is fully linked to the National Curriculum strategy

BA CREST is a nationally recognized accreditation scheme for project work in the fields of science and technology. Aimed at students aged 11-19, BA CREST awards encourage students to develop their scientific curiosity, problem-solving and communication skills. In addition to the students gaining awards, the best ones are entered into regional events at the end of June and beginning of July. The best projects go forward into the national final, the BA CREST Science Fair, in February the following year. AstraZeneca also supports the BA CREST Science Fair, by sending scientists from different sites, to help judge the projects and by giving prizes to some of the regional events.

Further details about CREST can be found on the following website:

 Brightside Trust

The Brightside Trust has launched a new e-mentoring programme Bright Journals. The aim is to support and encourage young people from underprivileged backgrounds into careers in medicine and healthcare by linking them with a medical or healthcare university student.
AstraZeneca has contributed £100,000 to the Brightside Trust for the “Pathways to Medicine Project” aimed at creating opportunities in medicine for disadvantaged individuals.
